In fact, I was able to learn something new with this project! It was lovely to sit and stitch to add the hand quilted details. The book begins with a great section featuring techniques and tips, and providing helpful explanations for things like paper piecing, stitches, binding and more. I really enjoyed getting outside of my comfort zone and trying something different. Again, the hand quilting was a fun addition. The patterns feature a nice balance of traditional blocks and modern designs.

This book is jam packed with quilts, table settings, ornaments, and gifts galore. I loved the Ticker Tape design, with its strips of lovely fabric arranged up and down all over the quilt in a beautiful pattern. So what do y'all think? You can check it out HERE. I wrote a book! Too cute to resist!

There are so many wonderful ideas in Doll Quilts, like simple geometric pastels, appliqued apples and a hand-stitched Little Red Riding Hood inside of a Dresden Plate pattern. Then I just whip stitched them together using fine 80 weight thread. I completely agree, including the fact that Doll Quilts offer an opportunity to try out new techniques without the big commitment of a full size quilt. Have you ever tried a single-fold binding?

Pretty in patchwork book

As the book title would suggest, the pages are filled with beautiful patchwork projects, from quilts, pillows, and pin cushions to tote bags, pouches and needle books.

We hope you'll stick around and subscribe. The book is full of really amazing projects and designers I'm sure you will recognize most if not all of them - contrary to what you might think not all of the projects are Christmas-related I completely agree, including the fact that Doll Quilts offer an opportunity to try out new techniques without the big commitment of a full size quilt.

It is clear that the twenty contributing designers really enjoyed coming up with ideas for doll quilts -- the book is full of vibrant colors and a feel of child-like wonder! Again, the hand quilting was a fun addition. Thanks for joining me on the tour.

‘Perfectly Pretty Patchwork’ Book Tour

Tips are sprinkled throughout the book to help. What's next? Thursday, December 1, Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays So remember a few days ago when I said I had some news to share but I needed photographic evidence?

Thank you for asking me to be a part of your book tour! Kristyne's book has eight sections, each section focuses on a traditional block and each block has a quilt associated with it, as well as a smaller project. The result of this is the above book Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays!

Instead of a sunny color scheme, I picked cold colors like aqua and chartreuse, one of my favorite combinations. We will select a random winner and will announce it here as well as contact them via email. I'm in a book and stuff See more.

I had never made a star block before and decided to try my hand at the Maverick Star project. But instead of talking about it, how about I show you some of my favorite projects from Pretty in Patchwork: Doll Quilts? Just look at those names below!

Pretty Little Patchwork

The theme for my book, obviously, is the holidays -- and, more specifically, the harvest and winter holidays of November and December including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah. My beginners guide to Hexies will help you with this process. It's a pleasure to write a review for a book I am thrilled to now have as part of my library!

In fact, I made TWO! I wrote a book! I made the 3" Needlebook and it was such a fun project! The tree is made using paper pieced hexagons and the letters are stamped onto the fabric using number stamps and an ink pad suitable for fabric. I love the smaller projects that require less time than a large quilt to make. So fun to look through a book saying-I want to make this one and this one and this one, etc! I have made quilt throws, quilted wall hangings, quilted table runners, a couple of bags, some wool penny rugs and I love to.
